Summer Sky
On a summer afternoon, the sky is often this beautiful color of turquoise,
especially when seen against our red sandstone.
Autumn in the Bosque
Autumn is a lovely, calm season.
It seems all of Nature is reflecting contentedly on the busy growth of
summer, pausing for a few last warm days of stretching in the sun before
moving into winter.
Rain in the Afternoon
One afternoon we watched the clouds move over the Sandias and build until
they were heavy with rain. After the rain fell, the clouds were the
most wonderful shades of blue.
Moss on Rocks
While on walks we sometimes come across springs along the base of the mesa,
usually in recessed places. Often there is a patch of lush, green moss.
I wonder how long the spring has been flowing and how many birds water there
in a day.
Moon Light
The light of the moon, especially of a full moon, casts a light wonderfully
different from that of the sun. One winter night on a full moon we
went cross-country skiing. The shadows cast by the trees were a bit
eerie and it was very quiet.
Sandia Sunset
Our skies in New Mexico are beautiful and ever-changing, especially at sunset.
Living west of the Sandias we are often treated to a remarkable display
of colors, among which coral plays a leading role.
